My Personal Journey with Nutrition: How I Reclaimed My Health

Hi there! My name is Lana, and I am a registered Nutritional Therapist with over a decade of experience in functional nutrition and integrative medicine. My journey with nutrition began after a childhood of ill health, including frequent colds, infections, stomach bugs, and hormonal imbalances, which eventually led to debilitating anxiety and depression. After countless doctors' visits and side effects from medication, I was recommended to see a functional nutritionist.

Functional Nutrition: A Whole-Person Approach to Health

From the very first consultation, I felt heard and understood as my entire life story was unpacked, and it became clear how everything was interconnected. Rather than treating my symptoms in isolation, I was treated as a whole person and given solutions that worked from the root of the problem. Motivated by the remarkable changes I saw in just two weeks, I continued to make lifestyle and dietary changes and eventually decided to study Nutritional Therapy and biomedicine at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London.

My Journey as a Nutritional Therapist: Helping Others Reclaim Their Health

As a member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine and registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, I was awarded my higher-level diploma after three years of study and clinical practice. I have also partaken in continued medical education with the world-renowned Institute of Functional Medicine in the US, learning from experts such as Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Elizabeth Boham, and Dr. Dan Luckaczer.

A Patient-Centered Approach to Whole-Body Health

By shifting the traditional disease-centred focus of medical practice to a more patient-centred approach, I work with you to address you as a whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. I spend time with you, listening to your histories and evaluating the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, I can support your unique expression of health and vitality.

Beyond Nutrition and Wellness: Exploring Healing Benefits of Yoga, Sound, and Permaculture

My interests extend beyond nutrition and wellness. I have a particular interest in human rights, decolonisation, anti-racism work, food sovereignty, ecology, spiritual ecology, and the social determinants of health. I have explored the healing benefits of sound and received a training from my teachers Tim Wheater and Cherub in London in 2018. Prior to that, I explored the healing benefits of Reiki and received my Reiki practitioner Level 2 certification with Torsten Alexander Lange. In 2021, I studied for my permaculture design certificate at Finca Tierra, rooted in indigenous practices and founded by human rights lawyer Ana.

Spreading Awareness and Education on Food as Medicine

In 2019, I opened my own wellness clinic, Lifespace, in Notting Hill, London, which included clinic rooms and a studio for daily sessions of healing movement practices and meditation. Sadly, due to the pandemic, the business had to close, and I moved to the UAE to be closer to family. However, I continue to build my private practice, seeing patients both online and in-person, and working hard to spread awareness and education on food as medicine, including whole-body and lifestyle medicine.

Yoga and Psychotherapy: The Importance of Mind-Body Connection

In my personal life, I am a devoted yogi and received my 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2017. Yoga has been a refuge for me since I was 17 years old, offering me a way to release and explore my conscious and subconscious memory. I am also a psychotherapy advocate and have worked with a psychotherapist for eight years.

How I Can Help You

As a registered Nutritional Therapist, I believe that food can be your greatest medicine or your slowest form of poison. I offer a personalised and comprehensive approach to wellness, working with clients to create a plan that addresses their unique needs and goals. Whether you're looking to manage a chronic condition, improve your overall health, or simply understand how to eat better, I'm here to help.

My approach is rooted in the principles of functional nutrition, which means that I look beyond your symptoms to identify the underlying root cause of your health concerns. This holistic approach involves a detailed evaluation of your health history, lifestyle, genetics, and environmental factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.

Using this information, I work with you to create a tailored plan that incorporates dietary and lifestyle changes, as well as targeted supplements and nutraceuticals, to support your body's natural healing processes. I believe that the body has an innate ability to heal itself when given the right support, and my goal is to help you create the optimal environment for that to happen.

Whether you're dealing with chronic health issues or simply looking to improve your overall health and wellbeing, I can help you. Together, we'll explore your unique health history, uncover the root causes of your symptoms, and create a personalised plan to help you achieve your health goals.
